I call this crane lonely since it is always by itself, when it visits us. Many cranes mate for life but not all, per the net.
This crane may want to be alone but it reminds me of the subject of loneliness. I appreciate the fact that I can get out of the house, if I want to....
When busy with jobs and kids, we wish for peace and quiet. I remember those days of being too busy and I didsurvive enjoy them.
Thankfully we have many communications that previous generations did not have. My Grandmother waited on letters.
I can talk to or email my kids that are busy with their careers. Oh yeah, when hubs listens as I chatter away.
I recommend when lonely reach out to others or enjoy your peace and quiet!

I love peace and quiet. that means hubby does not have the TV blasting so it hurts my ears because he can't hear. so peace and quiet i love. love the communication we have now and wish my mother were still alive, she would have loved my blog and email, she waited for letters and I had to force myself to write one with pictures in it once a week. email and blog is so easy to keep track of family
Great advice. It is easier to keep in touch. Poor little crane...seems like he should be with a mate. Blessings, Joanne
Despite the variety of communication means existing nowadays, loneliness is still a subject.
I think that's all a matter of personality. Some people feel lonely even when they're surrounded by people. For others, it suffices to keep in touch by phone or email to feel that they're not lonely, even if they're alone and enjoying the quiet of the house.
Lovely picture the one at the top of your post!
I so hear ya - and am trying to take that advice - when lonely - reach out - get out and visit others!
Lovely picture!
Alone doesn't have to be the same as being lonely. Your crane does look rather sad, though. We have seen a few great blue herons over the years, and they are always alone, I don't know why!
Great suggestions for times of loneliness. As you said some time being along is just a time of renewing oneself.
I get lonely sometimes but lately I've been busy enough that I haven't had time to worry about it.
I think without the online resources available to me, I'd be quite lonely. My friends still work, and I need to communicate, so I turn to the internet and my new friends there.
Peace,
Muff
kim...i live alone now, & i LOVE it...call me a selfish control freak, but i can decide if or when i want company...most of the time, i do, but, if i don't i don't have to okay it with anyone..
That's what blogging is for, LOL!
Great last line. I love that picture.
My mother had a friend who once said to me that when one is lonely just invite some one over for coffee. It seems over simplified perhaps. But, if you think of all the lonely people in the world and pair them up...
Your crane story reminded me of another blog friend that had a long duck in the small lake near her home. When the mate died --the male still keeps coming back to look for her. It's sad. Some of them DO mate for life.
I remember writing my mother a letter every Thursday for years and years... It would have been easier these days with email and texting so readily available.
Hugs,
Betsy
There's such a difference in being alone and being lonely. It's so nice to be able to reach out to others if we have the desire, it's also nice to be able to enjoy the peace and solitude of a beautiful day! I think the choice is ours!!
I definitely like my alone time. :) Neat picture.
Yes! Down time is precious and fleeting!!
I wish my mama would get a cell phone or a computer. Then I could email and text to my hearts content!! But alas...she refuses. So I call her two or three times a week. This has to suffice. She is such a treasure.
And I do text my grandkids all the time and it is great to keep in touch this way!!
Hugs
SueAnn
Kim,
I only know how we wish for P & Q...and then when I get it, I'm done with it after about an hour~ I guess it's a lesson in be happy with whatever your life entails :)
Have a great day!
I try to remember that one day I will be alone...and it is coming faster than I like. Well hubby will be there. But I also try to remember to call my parents when I can. Thanks for the reminder!
Blessings to you my friend!
