My Wheelchair Gift

I am so happy that I got this chair before Christmas!  (I still do not like the wheelchair look) but it gives me independence!

My old chair was really trying my patience since I had to charge it 5 times a day, getting stuck everywhere......so to receive a fast powerful dependable chair is truly a gift!  It makes my spine stay straight which alleviates some of the pain......which is a another great thing!

Of course walking again with a walker (part of the day) is the most miraculous gift!  I still need the chair to conserve energy and to do housework though.....

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas as I celebrate with my family......the bestest gift ever!

Enjoying Differences

Connie Arnold's newest book for children, Mokey's New Friends, has just been released from Guardian Angel Publishing. It is a story about a monkey named Mokey who makes friends with a donkey named DeeDee and a squirrel named Charlie. They have some fun adventures, and children can learn about loving and accepting those who are different in looks and abilities.

You can see more about Mokey's New Friends and other books on Connie's website or blog.

Mokey's New Friends and Connie's other books are available on Amazon.

The colorful and lively illustrations are by artist Marina Movshina Two Pines Studio

This video shows some examples of some unusual friendships between different animals. Enjoy!

Crying with Santa

I think this photo of my great nephews is so cute!

Some babies do not care for Santa....and I understand that!

I hope your first day of December is going better than baby Logan's was!

My Grandson Playing

My grandson and I went outside to play in the leaves. Of course I see more leaves after last weeks sweeping......so I start sweeping them off again.

At this point you might think I have a tree problem but I love trees!

He took the broom from me!  He swept like a pro!

He is 2 and likes leaves like any toddler would.

Yep I am tired!  However, This is a Priceless time with my grandson!

Using Wheelchairs to Sweep Leaves

Where there's a will.....there is a way!  well not always but for me sweeping there was.

I love sweeping the million leaves off our driveway every year..... on a pretty day!

Of course I was tired after it was done but I consider it a "good tired"!

I felt accomplished and so thankful I can work outside in my chair.

Maybe I should use the leaf blower? Nah old fashioned broom gives me a workout.

The Heat Effect in the Winter

While I was driving down my driveway, this golden tree was so beautiful that I stopped and took a picture of it......well the beauty was better in person!

I love the seasons changing but getting used to a cooler season is rough!   I bundle up since I am freezing then that causes my legs to start spasming, cramping....(spasticity) until I change to cooler clothes!

It took me Foerever to figure that out in the cold weather!......my word of advice to MSers is to watch out for the heat (causing weakness and pain) even in the winter time!

I hope all enjoy watching the beauty of these changing seasons!

My Inactive MS

One year ago, my doc told me to stop taking the 'disease modifying medications'  because of the inactivity of my Multiple Sclerosis (MS).....for many many years!

Last month at my annual checkup.....Doc said "let's make sure there is no MS activity with an MRI.......since I have not taken any MS medications for a year now.

Praise The Lord! My MS is still inactive! and doc does not know why.

I never dreamed this could be possible for MS to go inactive!  So don't give up hope!

Healthier Eating

This picture of my grandson digging into his one year old birthday cake....last year.....is a good example of how my whole family loves sugar!

Which brings me to my sisters big potluck dinner......After all the fun of seeing each other and eating too much.....

Someone says "where's the desert?"  Uh oh No one brought desert!!

A Monumental moment for us.....I cannot remember a get together without desert in my life!

but since diabetes runs rampant in our family.......we are all trying to cut back on the sugar!

And to my disbelief I do feel better without it!

Florida Vacation Memories

I have enjoyed this past summer as it winds down.....I have been lazy but very busy at the same time!

We had a big family (12 of us) vacation at Mexico Beach Florida!

they had ramps built to their beaches...so I set this close to the beach for a little while.....and took pics of the beautiful ocean.

But don't feel sorry for me since I do not like sand and this was plenty close enough to the beach for me!!

We were thrilled to see an alligator in the marsh behind the rental house.....far enough away!

stayed in the air conditioning during the heat since I melt!  However I still love the summer time....hope yall had a good one too.

Fathers Day Snapshot

This little snapshot ended up being one of my favorite pictures of dad (holding Nate) 5 years ago....before he got so sick.

We had fun family times when he could come to Atlanta and stay a week with us.
I loved driving him to see doctors (which would ask which one of us was the patient since I was in a wheelchair),
helping him to get a new pair of glasses as he needed them, and run by Sams Club often,
We even waited in line together at the crack of dawn for Affordable Dentures! (not concert tickets but dentures:))

hubs and grandbaby

I can't leave Hubs out of all this Fathers Day talk cause he is a great father to our kids!

Happy Father's Day!

Can you see the deer?

This was a pretty sight to open the door to the other morning!

I saw the deer real fast since it was that close to my house.

closer look with editing

I like the convenience of a not so great cell phone camera......

As I try to capture some of the fleeting beauty around me!

World MS Day

 World MS Day

As a long timer living with MS (35 years) I am so happy to see all the progress that has been made with Multiple Sclerosis!

The amount of treatments are mind blowing to me since I had no treatment for the first 15 years.

I was at my worst when a nurse would have to drag me out of the bathtub in 1993 (which still makes me thankful that I can shower standing with grab bars).....then I started the interferons that came out in 1994!

My MS has been in remission ever since then!  I am even walking now with the use of a walker which is miraculous to me!

I have lived my dream, married for 30 years with two wonderful young adult children and a grandson now!

Just living an ordinary life with all its ups and downs!

Don't give up hope!
