How We Rescued a Cat from this Tree

This field cat had been in this tree with no hope of getting it down for a few days....

Here are a few of the ideas we either tried or had suggested to us:

I left a can of tuna near the tree
Dogs had slept a lot or ignored the cat
Maybe we could call the Fire Department?
My daughter really wanted us to cut down the tree!

I said "the cat has had plenty of opportunity to get down....there is nothing we can do to help the pitiful cat".

I was telling Dad of our suffering cat and He told me what he had done years ago.

He said "I took the dogs out of sight since the cat will watch the dogs even if the dogs are asleep.  Try putting the dogs somewhere else and see if it comes down as that stray scurried out of my tree years ago."

So Hubs put the dogs on the deck has a last ditch effort and completely out of sight from the cat....after 2 hours of the dogs sleeping on the deck.....the cat was gone!

I want to pass on the info of how we rescued a cat from a very tall tree in hopes that it will help another stranded cat!

Great idea... That cat was still watching the dogs.. Once the dogs were gone, the cat comes down..

Glad that little cat is okay. Cute story, Kim.
Hugs,
Betsy

That is a great suggestion!

Makes total sense that the cat would still be scared of the dogs even though they were sleeping.

Glad the cat came down though!

Good tip! We've got a stray kitten living on our deck in the back yard at the moment. We're trying to find a good home for him. In the meantime, we're feeding him and keeping him safe and warm at night in a little shelter we made for him outside.

when i started to tell my hubby about your post, he broke in and said the cat will come down by itself if it can't see the dogs. he said he did that with a cat in our tree when i was at work. glad it came down, it is pitiful when they yowl.

Bingo! I wouldn't have thought of it. Leave it to our parents, huh?

Never thought of that...but I guess the dog vs. cat dilemma is a universal one.
Good idea:)

Glad the story had a good ending. Although I had to laugh about how ambitious your daughter is!
