Damaged but Not Broken

Tree damaged by a bulldozer, 8 years ago
Spring growth
This tree has full healthy growth even though it has been damaged.  I took these photos as I was observing the new growth.

Many have said, "Cut that tree down", since they almost backed into it with their car....  I say "the tree has not moved, yall are the ones moving".

An analogy with people can be made here about damage?  I will let yall think about that....

ps. I want to thank the ones who left nice comments with Becky's post about me as a  "Portrait of a Hero".

I love it, "the tree has not moved, yall are the ones moving." Once damaged, yet flourishing. Hmm, definitely a good analogy for all of us in that.

When I read the title of your post, I immediately thought about how we as people can find ourselves damaged but not broken past the point of being repaired by our maker.

I just abhor it when people cut trees down. I am glad you saved this one, and now can watch it flourish.
Cheers

Kim,
There have been so many thoughtful comments about you on my blog post...I have also been able to make new friends from people that already knew you!
Thank you!

Wish we could be as resilient as the tree!

ohh yes, people's perception when they hear the word MS....

We have a trea near the lakes which was hit by lightning some 15 year ago, the cut down all the branches and cut a lady statue of out it.....a couple of years later new branches and leafs started to appear making this a kind of bark-less fairy tale tree

Yes, this makes a really good analogy! And there can be good growth even out of damage.

I agree with you, let them drive around it. i love trees and never ever cut them down unless they are a danger from rot.
i am thinking about the analogy

Good post. Bad things only make us better.

I love your analogy and the pictures of the tree. We are all damaged, but in the hands of our loving God we can have new growth and blossom.

What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger!

I believe trees have a soul just as humans and animals do. They get hurt and they heal and revive just as the damaged tree in your two pictures.
The story of this tree is beautiful. Thanks for telling it.

Hi! That was a good post and I'm going to think about it. I also just read your story. It's nice. You have a nice family. You can tell that they love you very much. I like your family pictures also!
Have a great night while I'm off pondering!

Lots of analogies! The tree was damaged but survived, to become strong. It may be that our greatest strength will come after some injury! good post. wb

It's sometimes difficult to feel whole when suffering with a chronic illness. It requires that we separate our value as persons from what we accomplish. That's what your post made me think about. :)
