A Birthday Memory

1967
I was 7 years old at this birthday party with my uncle Carson, cousin Pam and my dog Feller. Yep Feller!

Feller was my only dog that performed for me.

I do not have many memories of this party.  Ok I was 7!

However I have many memories of my uncle Carson being my spiritual guide throughout my life..

He was always talking to me about doing the right thing, what the Bible said about life, etc.

I am So Thankful for Carson being a spiritual guide for me.....even though sometimes I did not want to hear it!

I am linking with Lisa at Two Bears Farm

With so many stories about unhappy childhoods I always delight in the happy ones. With so many stories about men who are less than admirable it is wonderful to hear stories about true heroes. Thanks for sharing yours! Is it your birthday today? If so,

Nah it is not my birthday today, just an old pic. My Uncle is a great man but is having health troubles now.

Feller looks so cute! Love the old pic. Wonderful that your uncle was such a special person in your life. I have an uncle like that too.

Love this picture. The car behind him looks familiar. We had one of those cars. That is so wonderful that you had someone in your life like him. (I guess we are about the same age. I turned 8 in 1967)

What a lovely memory. Are those patent leather shoes you have on?

I so enjoyed reading your sweet family memories. What a lovely example of leaving a spiritual legacy! One of my chief goals in life with my grandchildren! :) And what a cute little dog. My granddog would be most impressed! Thanks for a delightful visit.

That picture is amazingly funny! The look that Feller is giving the cake!!! Phil has a favorite uncle who is just ten years older than him, they had many fun times together. Having a fun aunt or uncle can be as good as a grandparent.

Its only recently I have started to look at old photos. The memories they evoke are rich.

A beautiful dog and a wonderful cake!

I know this may sound silly and forgive me if I am being too personal. I just can't help but notice that you look somewhat double jointed. (I have ehlers danlos a medical condition which has as part of it has double jointedness) The majority of people who are double jointed are so with no problems at all so please don't panic! It could just be the way you are standing that makes me think your legs look back bent. ie meaning they hyperflex beyond that which people who are not double jointed do.

Anyway aside from all that what an absolutely wonderful story.

Is he still alive? That is wonderful he did that for you - that he stepped in and literally saved your life.

I was going to ask if he was still alive. I see that Sandie already did.
It's wonderful to have a spiritual compass growing up. I pray that I have been an influence for the LORD and not the opposite.

Yes Thankfully he is alive but had a stroke. He struggles with words now and he was a preacher for 40 years.

The dog, the girls and the young man are all cuties, and the birthday cake looks special.

I'm touched by your words about your uncle as a spiritual guide to you. Lucky you to have such a person in your family!
