ACCEPTING HELP

I have always been independent, so it is hard to ask for help. I am finding it easier since there are so many nice people, that seem willing. My friend and I discussed this, since he has MS and it is hard for us to ask for help.

Today when I went to the grocery store, I could not reach an item, so this nice lady seem to be happy to help. When I needed fifty pounds of dog food, the store was happy to load it. The real act of kindness was when a man came running to help the employee.

This is the little stuff you can do in life and not realize you are impacting someone else. He was a stranger and he does not know I am blogging about his kindness. Next time you have the opportunity to help a stranger, give it a chance.

Great blog and so true. People are willing to help and you should be happy to accept what they freely offer. It makes our heart feel good to know when we have helped someone so look at it from the other person's point of view. I read a book titled "90 minutes in Heaven" and the author said a good pastor friend told him that by not accepting the help of the people that wanted to give it he was actually denying them their blessing of offering out of love or compassion. I had never thought of it like that before. Like you, I don't like to ask for help but these past few months have found me having to do that. Its been hard but after reading that book I feel differently. I know it always blesses me to be able to help someone. God bless :)

I agree with you, also that book "90 minutes in Heaven" really helped me when my Mom went to Heaven. It has the best description of Heaven.

It's easier for me by far to help others than to ask for help when I need it, and I totally understand what you mean, Kimberly. It is such a blessing though that there are so many people who are willing to help others! It is a touch of Christ in the world.

Yesterday a car broke down on a busy street. As I drove by, I noticed two guys pushing the car ... and five other guys, running from all directions, to help. It was purely an act of kindness.

It's difficult to ask for help but ... it's as much of a gift as helping someone out. It makes others feel good ... and trusted ... when they are called on.

Wonderful post!

I agree with the 90 minutes in heaven reference. Most people help because they can and it makes them feel good about themselves. Let them & know that by you letting them help you it may have turned a crappy day around for them.

There are a lot of people who want to help in some way or another and want nothing in return. It makes them feel good.

Great post. Thank you.

I never miss a chance to lend a helping hand, next time they may do it for my family or me. The best part of doing something is how you feel, not the thanks you get. Unless there is money involved!

Nice post and I agree. An act of kindness such as this case goes along way, and can turn an otherwise bad day or experience into a good one. And besides, everyone needs help every now and then, too.

BTW, I did add your blog here:
