9-11-01 Date to Remember

Remembering this day....I feel these 10 years have went by so slow and yet so fast.

That day my 11 and 14 year old kids had gone to school so I was watching TV at 8:46am when the first plane hit the World Trade Center.

I immediately thought it had to be an accident.  No one could be so cruel as to take a plane full of people deliberately into a building.....we know the details after that.

Do you remember where you were at?

I was writing something on my computer when a friend called with the news. I, like so many, was disbelieving and went on to finish what I was doing. Then when I finally "tuned in" I was of course horrified and riveted and could watch nothing else for days.

Hello Kim,

It was almost after midnight for me and I was not getting sleep. So I switched on the TV and started changing channels to see if anything was interesting. When I came to BBC I saw the thick smoke coming out from the top of one of the twin towers and the building was slowly breaking and crumbling to pieces. Then they started showing the second plane slowly and deliberately moving towards the second tower and crashing into it. I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought at first it could be a movie. But it was not. It was real. The second building also collapsed in a short while and then I could see people running for their lives and being chased by debris and smoke. It was real horror. I watched dumbfounded and sat till early morning and watched the entire horrible things unfolding in front of my eyes.

Best wishes
Joseph

I'll never forget. I was in college and had been in class when the 2 planes hit. I didn't know about anything until one of my roommates drove up as I was walking home from class at 9:30 and told me what was going on...We didn't have a TV, so we listened to the radio (went out that evening and bought a TV and watched all night).

I was at home and Phil was at work. Someone called me and told me. It really just seems like yesterday, I guess terrifying images seem so much more clear and sharp in the brain.

Being on the other side of the world when it happened, I woke up to the news many hours after the event. I was in disbelief for a long time.

Yes. I remember being annoyed at my husband for waking me up. Then things came into focus.

I was at work and in complete shock and disbelief. There are times even now that I say to myself "how could this have happened?"

10 years is a long time. In some ways it doesn't seem that long ago - in other ways, it's been a lifetime.

I knew nothing about it until my Mom called and told me to turn on my radio. It was so astonishing. But, deep down I was so grateful that I know God was in control and not the terrorists.

It was the same time in night here we watching the BBC news when the flight crashing the building and people on the street where running in scare looks above the building! I wish there is never a incident like this happen again anywhere.
