Pain and Stretching My Legs

Jer 15:18

Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable,
.....

Pain does seem to be part of life with many people sometimes.

Recently I have had leg spasms, they actually elevate my legs upwards while sitting or sleeping. (worse than a charlie horse)

It was painful enough that I sought help at The Shepherd Center in Atlanta.  I had to go out of my comfort zone....

They advised to try stretching my quads in the leg while laying on the bed since I cannot stand.

Stretching my leg muscles has relieved the pain some.   The pain of stretching is momentary to help the longer term pain, daily.

Spiritually, we need to stretch our lives out to others.   I personally believe it will help the daily pain....

Hi Kim. Love this post! I love all your posts. You are so creative and such a kind hearted soul! Did you know that Backporch Graphics is also my blog? I read the comment on the pictures. Thanks, Sweetie.

Yes, you make a very good analogy! I have had to do many types of P.T. exercises in the past. I like to say that Physical Therapy stands for Painful Twisting!! And I think the Pain Clinic is way down at the end of the hall so people don't hear the screams coming from it!! Well, what else can we do but try to see the humor in things and try to make the best of them. I love your analogy, because is is spot on!! In this life we have to suffer in many different ways, and some of it is for our own good. Some things we may never know why till the afterlife, but God sees the whole picture from beginning to end and we are so limited by our tiny, narrow area of time. I hope the stretching continues to help and that you have a good and cramp free weekend!

Hi Kim,

I find the stretching exercises help my sapsticity. I'm often just too lazy to do them every day.

Cheers,

I hope your legs are feeling better. I have a bad hip so I can empathize about the pain.

In my experience leg cramps are best dealt with by wrapping the leg with an elastic band.

Hi Kim, I became anemic after my knee surgery--and one symptom was leg pain/cramps/aches... I added a glass of milk before going to bed, a Vit. E pill, a Potassium pill, in addition to the Iron pills which my doctor had me on. I then read to drink more water--alot of water. SO--I started drinking about 8 glasses a day. Don't know which one helped (or all of them) --but my legs are fine now.....

Oh these crazy bodies of ours!!!!! Hope you can find some relief.
Hugs,
Betsy

Hi Kim, good analogy. Stretching ourselves into the lives of others makes us much less focused on our own pain.

You connected these 2 types of 'stretching' very well, Kim! Great Post & needed to be read by some many of us! :-)

Hope you're not having that much pain anymore.... Take Care!

Wonderful blog you've got here! Found you over @ Duta's (she's great, isn't she?).

We have a friend whose 14 y/o dau. was just diagnosed w/ MS. They're kind of still reeling from it, I think, but taking things in stride, nonetheless. You offer so much hope here, & your steadfastness is obviously from the Lord. Praise Him!

Keep up the good work!
