My MS TShirt

This is me in my new MS TShirt.  It informs others of why I am in a wheelchair or why I walk strangely :)

I have had many say to me, "I have a friend who has MS" when I wear these TShirts.

This is an individual decision and each person decides whether to wear them, of course.

I ordered this from MS TShirts, whom is my sponsor.  There are many others to choose from....so check them out.

Memorial Day Thoughts

This flag was used at hubs fathers funeral when he passed away in 1974.  He had fought in the "Korean War".  This flag was honorably folded by the soldier's.

Originally Memorial Day was called "Decoration Day" beginning in 1868, click here for more history.

As a Mother of a Marine, I now have a new appreciation for Memorial Day.  Strange how I did not understand the significance  of this day as much when hubs had been in the Navy?

This post is just a reminder of the reason that we have celebrations on this day.....

Reach for the Impossible

Does my rear look big?  I can get that lizard

getting closer but it is not possible to get that lizard
No one saw this lizard
Sometimes things are in plain sight and we do not see them.   At least try to reach for the impossible!

Surprised by a Bouquet of Roses

I received a surprising bouquet of roses from:
1.  Hubs who planted the bush
2.  Nature who helps these flowers grow
3.  Ultimately God sent them to Me!

This is the same dead rose bush that surprised me when I rode by it.

I looked over, past the junk stuff on the porch and Wow there is a bouquet of roses for Me!

Living with Pain

I have been trying to understand this thing called PAIN!  How do I stay positive with a post about it?   It has affected my life lately though.

I have been taking "Neurontin" for relief of these leg spasms but I feel "drunk" so I cannot take it in the daytime?

I do not want to live my life with side-effects of these medicines but?   It is a balancing act again.

Exercising keeps the body in better shape to handle this (PT told me).  Really I do have to exercise as I get older or else :)

Life has many degrees of pain.   I would rather have this physical kind over other kinds of pain.   I believe that most people would agree.

ps.  I cannot complain after the tragedy in Missouri yesterday with tornadoes.....

The Hidden Beauty of a Hawk

This is a hawk flying away from our house.....It is hard to see the hawk but it is there.

Sometimes we have to look hard to see beauty in our lives.

Do You Need A Vacation?

Just a pic to hide the test pic:)

This is a net test.  I am not sure exactly how it works, but this is amazingly accurate. Read the full description before looking at the picture.

The picture below has 2 identical dolphins in it. It was used in a case study on stress levels at St. Mary's Hospital.

Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water. The dolphins are identical.

A closely monitored, scientific study revealed that, in spite of the fact that the dolphins are identical.

A person under stress would find differences in the two dolphins.

The more differences a person finds between the dolphins, the more stress that person is experiencing.

Look at the photograph and if you find more than one or two differences you may want to take a vacation.

My Photography Hobby

This rose bud is part of the same bush that I declared dead last week.  It has a bit of life left in it.
My sister 1977
I have liked taking pictures since I was a child, so my parents gave me a Kodak 110 camera.  They paid for the developing of the film at our local drug store pharmacy.

The digital cameras allow us to capture some of the detail that the eye can see.  The delete button is handy also!

I am always amazed with the human eye and the way the brain processes the beauty!

Leaving the Wheelchair Behind

It was fun to hop climb into my friends car and go out with the girls ladies to a Bible Study, this week.   I climbed three steps also!

It is such a feeling of freedom to leave the wheelchair at home!

Whether it be the meds (Avonex, Copaxone, Ampyra, etc) or a Chiro?   I did start walking again with the aide of a walker.   I personally feel that God was behind it all.

I repeat don't give up hope....

Pictures of Mothers Day

I received these from our Church, their beauty cannot be described!
I like to begin Mothers Day with a church service.  It is nice to see a few ladies singing!
I love spending time with my Mother in law.  She is similar to a Mom but I DO Miss My Mom!
My kids are what Mothers Day is all about to me!  I say too much about these two kids but time with them is what I do enjoy !

I appreciate and will cherish the letter from my son, that I shared yesterday.

We know that Mothers are everyday!   I cannot repeat enough but appreciate Your Mothers Now

A Letter from my Son for Mothers Day

2002

Today is the day to honor all mother's, especially mine.  My mom is one of the greatest in the world if not THE greatest in all the world. As a young woman around the age of 20, my mom was diagnosed with MS. That didn't stop her, un-motivate, or discourage her from living her life to the utmost of her ability.

She was told that she would be ok to have one child but it may harm the MS.  After the first one was born, my older sister, she was told that she should stop.   If she was to have another child, the risk was higher  to harm her MS, and what did she do?   She had another kid, and personally I thank her because I am her second child and her only son.

Growing up as a kid, my dad worked long days and sometimes two jobs.  I always valued my father's work ethic but because of it, my mom had to raise two kids mostly by herself. But let me tell you something, she did a fine job, if I don't say so myself.

While my sister and I were growing up, I wouldn't say my mother was the push over parent.  I liked to say she is the one that would do whatever she could to give us what we wanted, within reason. Through our teenage years though we were still teenagers. My mom guided us through middle school and high school.  She helped us with homework, gave us advice with any problems, and taught us how to clean our house.

She was always very protective.  I remember one time during middle school, I was being bullied by another kid at school.  I told my parents about it, and against my father's advice, my mom personally calls the school and tells them.  The next day my teacher told the kid not to talk to me in class anymore.

My mom is not only a great guardian, she is also a good mentor.  Helping my sister and me with whatever problems came our way.  If she couldn't help in those rare times, she knew who to go to that could help us.

My mom is the best mother in the world because she raised the best two children in the world. One became an accountant and the smartest sister I have. She graduated college and is going for her master's degree next year. She is working for a large company. The other one turned out to be one of America's toughest and finest fighting machines, a United States Marine!

My mom might not look tough, but she raised a Marine. I graduated boot camp the company's high shooter. I'll have to say, she had to be doing something right, a lot of something right.  If anyone disagrees, they can come talk to me or my sister and we'll tell you whats up.

Geese Family Adventure with 4 Babies

I was excited to see our Geese Family going for a small excursion. Mom and Dad with 4 babies (goslings) in between.  Geese mate for life.
They have a daily adventure to go across the small area of water to let the kids play.
After playing a moment the parents say "lets go back home".   I like the way it takes a moment to get the group in order, just like us humans.
They go back home orderly as the first picture shows.

Happy Mothers Day with a glimpse of nature!

Listen to Your Body!

My sisters and I carpooled to see Dad this weekend.   I used a walker and we all saved on our gasoline.

My dad said, "we are so used to seeing you in a chair.   It is a surprise to see you walk in the house".

It is nice to have 5 sisters fun, gabbing, laughing, advising, etc.  It can drive guys crazy!

When I got home, I continued to walk in the house even though I knew I was exhausted?

Then while I sat in my chair some,  suddenly I fell out of it onto the hard floor, kaboom!

It hurt, as hitting the floor would hurt!  I was the " I've fallen and I cannot get up, lady".  Now I can get up easier than before.

I thought, Ok that is a big sign to rest.  I do have to rest a lot.

Your body will get your attention even if you ignore it, such as when I hit the floor.  I am doing fine now.

Scared Horse-Dog Jumps on the Couch

My scared horse dog wanted to be near his Granny (that is Me in comfy clothes) during one of the storms this Spring.

Hubs took the pic when the storm was over and one of us had to get up.

Horse dog is saying "what are you doing on my couch?   Now you can see why I have the puzzled look.
