My New Avonex Pen

I am so relieved to be able to take my weekly MS Med (Avonex) injection with an auto-injector pen...

now I can give myself a shot without seeing the needle!

Hubs gave me the shot for 7 years before I was brave enough to stick myself with the harpoon large needle...
back in the day.

My Multiple Sclerosis (MS) journey started with no medications available.....til now there are many medications to choose from that can help slow down the progression.....while we wait on a cure.

I thank God regularly for the gift of intellect in those who come up with this stuff! I am so grateful that there ARE options and that living while waiting for the cure is markedly different now because some one used his gift wisely!

It is unfortunate that some diseases are so hard to find a cure for. A friend of mine gives herself weekly injections to help slow down the effects of Chrons disease.

Well, this is a very good thing!!! I didn't know that my iPad would make a collage?

I saw an ad about that auto-injector pen --advertising for people with Diabetes who take insulin. Looks so much better than the HARPOON needle.. ha

Hope they eventually find a cure for MS... It's a puzzling disease for sure...

God Bless.
Hugs,
Betsy

Since there is no cure, I am happy you have found an easier way to deal with this terrible disease.

I still don't think I could do it myself!

Your Avonex pen looks amazing.
I am still injecting myself with Betainterferon. Harpoon is an accurate description - even with the applicator. I could do without the welts the injections raise as well.
Just the same, I will continue taking it as an act of faith - hoping that it does slow progression and does reduce the number of relapses.

I am glad you have found that pen to help you!! I hate needles so much even that would be a challenge for me.

Wow.... wish that the Avonex would have been a pen like that when I started on that treatment 10+ years ago.... sadly Avonex didn't do it for me.....but I have started on one of the new meds with a pill a day.... hopefully more of the treatments will be converted to a pill someday, as I too once have to overcome a huge needle scare..... but happy that the Avonex have become easier for you to take :o)

With the wonders of science now a days, I am sure you will find a cure very soon. Happy New Year to you. A bit too late to wish now, I guess, but better be late than never. Hope this would be another great year for you.

Yikes, I hate needles too! I'm so sorry about your disease. But thank goodness they have medicines that can help! My neighbor has advanced MS and I was helping here before Christmas, figuring out ways that she could do some photography. She gave it up a year or so ago, but I showed her different tripod set ups and ball heads for the tripods, so she can take photos of her flowers this spring.

Thank you for visiting my blog, BTW! Enjoy that iPad! Technology is a marvelous thing!
