Baclofen Pump Implant

During my recovery from the surgery to implant a baclofen pump...
I took a few photos when I felt better, as seen above.

When deciding whether to have surgery.....my reason was the need to have relief from the leg spasms but there was a second good reason:

Before surgery...I took 80 mg of baclofen each day.
Now I only need .05 mg
since the baclofen goes directly into my spine with the pump
80mg before-.05mg now!

The spasticity is gone with a fraction of medicine!
(The Doc will monitor the pump and dosage)

It has been tough to have surgery.....however....I have been released from the Neurosurgeon with a good report....now I only wait on more strength to return as I rest.

This too shall pass as I regain more strength each day....
and also learning to have more patience!

That sounds like a successful surgery! I know it was tough but thankful it gave you relief with the great decrease in medicine. Praying your strength continues to return and you can feel much better. Patience is a hard lesson to learn but very important!

Kim,
So happy to hear the surgery went well and you are feeling better. That is GREAT that you don't have to take so much baclofen. I dread taking medications,... many of them cause stomach issues.

It was good decision to have the implant 80 mg versus 0.5 mg - what a gap!
You're on the right track - the track of improving life quality. Good Luck!

How wonderful. And exciting. My baclofen keeps on getting increased and I keep on having super painful leg spasms. I will have to think about the implant, but you have given me the incentive to think about it more carefully. Thank you. Lots.

Glad the surgery went well. I was , influenced by some nasty spring allergies, kinda blue yesterday about all of the medication I have to take. Of course I wouldn't ever give up my Baclofen of Gilenya - those are the ones that make a huge noticeable difference! But I guess I should be more grateful about what I have - I'm only on 10mg of Baclofen and I'm not having any problems with the spasticity.

SO happy for you that the pump is working and the drastic reduction in meds!
