That was a story I identified with. I too came down with MS in my early 20s and then worked for about another 15 years before I had to retire. The moment of diagnosis, unlike you, I experienced by myself. I remember hearing the neurologist say I had MS, nodding, and leaving his consulting room in one piece. Then I broke down crying in front of the receptionist as she made arrangements for me to go to the hospital.This was, by the way, Christmas Eve. I delayed going into the hospital until the day after Christmas. Like you, even though it is many years later, I remember vividly the experience. But you are right. In those pre-MRI days, it was quite a different experience.The emotional impact, though, I suspect has not diminished. Judy
How great that they chose you. And you have much to say, too. I knew some of your story, but really enjoyed reading the whole thing. You kept it concise, and everyone should have your attitude!!! You just gotta keep going on and do the best you can, each moment of life is a gift to us all!
Congratulations. I was diagnosed in MS awareness week, and the only thing I knew at the time of my diagnosis was the dread disease's initials. I have learnt quite a bit since then.
I read your story again and you are amazing to me that you have had children and married life and never let it stop you. I am glad they chose you, who knows how many young women will find this site and read your story and gain confidence from it.
