Surprises and Tough Times

Surprises help when they are truly a surprise during a hard day. My husband brought these home from the grocery store for me. We had a very busy weekend, he is working two jobs, so life is tough right now.

We are very thankful for two jobs but the fourteen hour days, is getting very rough. I know everyone has different challenges, it is another one to accomplish.

It seems to me, there are many tough times now, but our forefathers would not agree. Since I am sitting at a computer in a nice, warm home, do not believe they would think, it is so tough.

You're right. Everything is relative. I have a car, my house is paid for, I have a comfortable place to sleep and I don't want for food. Sure, I can't walk a block, and a shower takes me more than an hour from start to finish (dressed to redressed and w/ dried hair), but is my life hard? Not as hard as _____________! You fill in the blank.
Be well.

Oh yeah, I was going to say, "Nice flowers from the hubs." I'm just a little bit jealous. Lucky you - even if he does have to work 14 hours a day, it shows that you're always on his mind. (makes me smile)

The old times were the toughest but surprisingly those times were full of laughters and pure fun. It was only the lack of facilities which our modern times are overflowing in abundance that made life tough. Today's life, the tough could be due more to financial commitments that people living in the old times never heard of.

Your husband sounds just like mine! In fact, he just brought me flowers the other day. He also works two jobs, and I don't get to see him that much (sniff, sniff).

Have a blessed week, and enjoy those flowers!

What a great reminder!! We really do live in our own little boxes forgetting that there are less fortunate people in the world. I had this conversation with my 9-year-old daughter on Friday. I had heard enough of her complaining about shoes...SHOES!!! She didn't want to wear the same pair two days in a row. My heart sank...what am I doing wrong...are these MY values? I reminded her that there are children in the world, in our country, in our state and even in our TOWN that don't have any shoes and maybe, I should send her to school one day without shoes so she will appreciate what she has. I could see tears welling up in her eyes and I wondered if I was too harsh. Hopefully not. I just don't want to ever take for granted what God has so graciously given to me and I want the same for my daughter.
God Bless you (and your hard-working husband).
Erin
