Smart Car Handicap Accessible Bumps

This is what my finished Smart Car with a wheelchair carrier on the rear will look like... but we run into some design bumps in the road...
Hubs installed a trailer hitch on the car but had to modify the bolt so it would fit.  Of course, It is a smaller hitch than a truck would have.
I was taking photos as I watched him work during the heat.   I noticed the dirt but someone will wash it later.
We took the car for a test spin down our driveway.

We needed to see how the chair and the car  were going to ride together before we tried the highway.  Chair pics later....

We got 500 feet away and decided to turn back.   It may have been because I kept nagging "I cannot risk a $5000 chair falling off this car".

So back to the house we drove with technical difficulties,  he is  revamping it or whatever .

Since hubs has to work a lot (which we are thankful for)....this story continues of him attempting to make a Toy Smart car handicap accessible.

Multiple Sclerosis Assessment Tool

Healthline asked me to share a  Multiple Sclerosis Assessment Tool

I thought is was educational about how MS can be assessed.....It helped me to understand why the Doctor does ask some questions.

Hubs thinks that I put a positive spin on my test?

Well I could have......I did try  to take the test with brutal reality so I could assess myself.....

Healthline gave this explanation for low test numbers:
it was normal for numbers to be low because the tool is meant to be a gauge between your personal baseline (of your status 6 months ago) and how you are now. The tool in effect is meant for viewers to track their own status (and gain info on MS symptoms as they do such) so that they may take that information back to their own physician. For example, someone may not have even thought about certain symptoms as being those of MS but in going through this tool they may start to make sense of symptoms they are experiencing and put the puzzle together for themselves of what could be going on with their body. I do not believe that the numbers can be 100% accurate as a means to a diagnosis, especially if someone is in between two sets of symptoms. However, in general I think that it is a great way to get someone thinking about their own experience with MS or recognizing possible symptoms of it.

Welcome Baby Grace

My baby sister had a 9 pound 7 ounce baby.   Yeah, we have big babies in our family!

I smiled at this happy family snapshot with a screaming baby.

These are the special moments of our lives!  Oh the memories....

Brushing my Horse

See how pretty handsome I am?  Guess why?
My master Mom brushed my hair
Now I need to smell of my hair to see if it is my hair!  It makes me sneeze though.....written by Donny the Horse Dog

My Dad and My MS

I am reflecting back on a strong memory with my Dad.  He has COPD and some heart issues.  Of course he has good and bad days.

I now see how upset he was when he thought I was having signs of a brain tumor? but it turned out to be MS.

The weird stuff began when I had a blob appear in my eye for a week and I went to an eye doctor.  It cleared up for a few months....

Later I started seeing two of everything (double vision).  Also I was numb from head to toe on the right side of my body.  I did not realize it could be serious.

Then, it was the day after Thanksgiving, Dad said "we are going to the Doctor"!   I said "no one will be open during a holiday" but the same eye doctor was open.

After the eye exam, he took Dad into another room to talk.

I thought that was strange.   I was living on my own and independent so I was getting irritated?

When we left, Dad was obviously upset.  He was trying to talk to Mom alone but I kept saying that it was my body.

Dad finally said "the doctor thinks it could be MS".

I thought I do not want to be one of Jerry's kids.  But that is MD? so what is MS?   No computers or tests to confirm it back then.

I understand why Dad was so upset since  I am a parent now.

Thankfully I have not had those eye problems in 30 years!

This is a reminder to spend time with our loved ones while we can.

Nothing New Under The Sun....

Ecclesiastes 1:9 that which has been done is that which will be done.
So there is nothing new under the sun.

This verse has been coming to my mind when I am feeling:

Pain in my body
Sadness when my Dad is sick
Joy of my kids achieving what they desire
Shocked at how fast life is zooming by

I should have realized a long time ago that I am not the first to feel these ordinary feelings.

By the way, this beautiful fern was growing in my yard but I did not notice it until the weeds around it were removed.....

I Forgot!

I am always saying:
I Forgot this
I Forgot that

We all are forgetful with age but of course I think
MS

These videos are long but check them out if you are interested by the National MS Society

Personally I exercise my brain by taking notes and trying to make sense blogging :)

What do you do for your memory?

A Chihuahua Chasing Robbers Video

When I saw this video (33 seconds) on TV, I smiled since it looked so much like my sisters dog....

The owner of this dog said that he is so sweet normally....this video was a surprise to them.

I hope that my horse dog would do the same!  I feel like sharing a smile today.....

Goodbye to My Geese Family

This is the end of my geese family photos.....

They were leaving and notice the 5 kids goslings are leading the way.

Many analogies here with our human families too.

My Smart Car

We bought this used car with 11k miles on it for Me and I feel Smart:)  It does not look handicap accessible yet but hubs is working on that.  It will haul my chair on the back of the car.....more pics later.

I have wanted a small car for a long time but a toy car?  I laughed when I first saw it.....surprisingly it feels roomy on the inside.

Horse dog was barking at us til he heard my voice, everybody else laughs when they first see it!

We were getting so tired of sinking money into our clunker van and the van is still dead now....but this dream car will require some walking?

I will share how it turns out later.....

Fatigue and Strength

I consider this one of my favorite (partial) verses.  I try to remember it when I am so tired.....

The Joy of the Lord is my strength then....

I Rest a lot and try ignoring the fatigue sometimes.

After that, I reflect on how it was 100 years ago, no meds, no running water, no a/c, etc....They had pain too.....

By far, I am not the only fatigued person now.

Everyone deals with their own life differently.....I am sharing a few thoughts that helps me.

I love this pic I took yesterday as I link it with Word Filled Wednesday:

My Newly Landscaped Yard

Yes (sisters) this is my yard....they will not recognize it landscaped!

I have visions of a horse dog galloping in a beautifully manicured yard that hubs takes care of.

Funny how he does not have the same vision as I do, so I hired it done with his extra money :)

Why does a clean house or yard make me feel better physically??

Do I have mental problems? ~grins~

My Geese Family

This is my geese family that I have enjoyed taking photos of.  I love the way they stay together!
Uh Oh I have found 5 kids!  The 5th gosling does hide well....or I did not see it before this pic?

My Best Bargain Find

My bargain find was at a yard sale.  It is not a treasure but I am pleased with it....

The bed and chest both were a $25 total!

The bedspread, which I let get very wrinkled, was $2.

We wanted my sons waterbed drained and not risk a water leak.  We found a bargain to put in his room for when he visits....

Now if I could just get him to go through his old stuff that he has not touched in years....he left it here!

Marine Son Visits

My Marine son came home this 4th of July weekend with a few Marine friends. (Son pictured left at my sisters house)

The base where he is in school at, offered a trip to see a few sights in Atlanta so he jumped on the bus.

It was a busy weekend with son and friends in and out here all times of the night.

Of course, horse dog was a nervous wreck sticking closely to my chair with me calming him down....The pic is what we imagine.

When the kids get back to their busy, busy lives that is finally becoming Ok!

I love seeing my children and it is a bunch of fun too....
Happy 4th!

A Birthday Memory

1967
I was 7 years old at this birthday party with my uncle Carson, cousin Pam and my dog Feller. Yep Feller!

Feller was my only dog that performed for me.

I do not have many memories of this party.  Ok I was 7!

However I have many memories of my uncle Carson being my spiritual guide throughout my life..

He was always talking to me about doing the right thing, what the Bible said about life, etc.

I am So Thankful for Carson being a spiritual guide for me.....even though sometimes I did not want to hear it!
