My Cognitive Woes

My sister Jill's photography
Feeling Foggy

I cannot believe how forgetful I am getting!  When I worry about my brain lapses to others, they say they have the same problems.

Is it an age thing?? Or Multiple Sclerosis (MS) related??

I have recovered really great from my baclofen pump surgery so that’s not the culprit

I will keep playing my Word games, taking krill oil and just keep living my wonderful life that I truly have!  And be thankful for that.....

Oh, Kim. I can relate to your foggy woes. You're not alone. You're approaching it with a great attitude. We do what we can. The rest is up to the Lord.

Or a combination of age and the MS beast? I lose things from my head too. Increasingly often.
I adore your sister's photography. Moody, mystical, magical...

It's never one thing that might cause forgetfulness. It's usually age + meds. Even natural supplements can sometimes cause trouble, though temporary; one has to be on the alert.
Great photo!

I agree with Ginny - it is age and probably meds - I am glad you wrote this - I was just talking to my hubs about this today - I am forgetting names - not what they are used for - but names. You are ok ay!

I hate to admit it, but age does seem to slow the mind down somewhat.Live one day at a time and make it the best you can. That's my motto.

I can tell you that I know not one single person who is not having memory problems. no matter their ages. I think it is because of social media and all the internet. our brains are stuffed daily all day long with things we never knew before. I have been concerned with mine getting worse by the day.. I think we are all doing the same thing.

The picture is great, and I definitely relate to what you are saying, Kim. I feel like I'm in a fog sometimes, mostly from lupus and fibromyalgia. Keep playing Words with Friends and keep your positive attitude!

Eh maybe a combo of both. Same thing here. My family says they tell me things--sometimes I remember, sometimes I don't.
So glad the pump is working for you. Just keep fighting!

I think it;s aging. I also tend to be very forgetful lately

Hey Kim, being forgetful tends to happen as we add responsibility (ie. keep track of more and more things) as well as get older. As a chiropractor in Atlanta, GA, I too deal with patients having brain fog. We deal with neurologic function and stress that an abnormal spine position can have on your neurology. Although there has not been any studies to date supporting this, I have seen that with a better functioning nervous system, that people tend to have less "brain fog".

Good luck with your current approach.

I hope it is nothing more sinister. I too worry about the same thing even though I don't have MS.

Hi There, Have been catching up on your previous posts this morning... I don't know why I get so far behind --but I always seem to be SO busy!!!!

Glad your daughter is doing better --and hope you have your leg spasms under control now... I don't have leg problems --but do have a neuropathy problem in my feet. My feet will BURN when they get hot.... I love using my electric blanket when it's cold outside or cold in the bedroom... My feet say NO NO.... SO --I turn on my blanket and then put my feet OUTSIDE of the covers --so they can stay as cold as they want to... ha ha.... Oh the joys we have!!!!!!

Not sure about brain lapses --as to what causes it, but I do know that getting OLD is for the birds!!!!

Take care, my Friend.
Hugs,
Betsy

All the gals I know in their 60s and above are concerned about memory lapses and occasional confusion, a lot of that is part of aging, and perhaps not necessarily connected to MS.
