My Tribute to my Uncle Carson Brown

It is with a heavy heart that I say these words....my uncle Carson passed away at the age of 73.  He battled Alzheimer’s at least 7 years, which was painful to watch.

my wedding 1985
He was my spiritual father and pastor most of my life.  He married us, was at the birth of my children, baptized them and was at all our birthday parties.....in other words, he and my aunt Sue were there in all the phases of my life.

Carson and Sue 2009

He was born with a club foot that couldn’t be repaired til he was 13 years old.  He was dyslexic so he could not read anything except the Bible.  He didn’t let those limitations slow him down though!

my aunt showed him a pic of what
she liked, so he made her one....
a spinning wheel!

He was preaching his idea of Heaven would be plowing (later I told him it was not my idea of Heaven:)).  He said to plow fields as far as you could see and maybe even an air conditioned tractor!  That would be Heaven!

As we remember him, I know what was important to my uncle Carson,  it was his family and 40 years of ministry.  He sure lived what he preached.

He left this world a better place from the life he lived here!  He will be sorely missed!

My deepest condolences on the loss of your uncle! Judging by his picture and your moving words he was a kind person. Too young to have Alzeihmer, too young to die, but we're all in God's hands and HE decides our Fate.
May your departed uncle rest in peace! May God strengthen the family at this time of grief!

What a treasure this man has been in your life, Kim. How blessed you are to have had his influence in your life for so long and in such powerful ways. And, thanks to his role as your spiritual father, you have the confidence that you'll see him again one day. In the meantime, though, his absence will be sorely felt. You have my deepest sympathy.

this post is a beautiful tribute to him and his love for you and your family. Alzheimer's is such an awful disease, stealing the person away before the body goes. My condolences on your loss.

My condolences to you and the family.

How did you get back Ginny's comments to copy and paste it here again. I accidentally deleted comments before and could not retrieve them. I wish blogspot would not put the word "publish " and "delete" next to each other. If accidentally click "spam" at least we can still retrieve it.

Dear Kim and family, this condolence is late but I wanted to let you know how very special Brother Brown was to my family and that we are all so sorry to read of his passing. Years ago, when my boys were young and I was overwhelmed with life and wandering from the path I knew was right, we visited Powder Springs COG and heard Pastor Brown's message one Sunday morning. It was like coming home after many years away and he and Sister Brown made us feel welcomed and loved. I'll never forget the time we visited their lovely home and after we got back in the car, my youngest boy stated he loved "Butter" Brown...

Yes, he was an exceptional man who loved the Lord and followed His teaching of loving others. All who met him would immediately know that he practiced what he preached and that he had a real burden for the lost. He was obedient to God's leading, even if it wasn't always the most popular way in the eyes of others.

His reward in heaven is surely great but his absence on earth is greatly felt by those who loved him. Please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,

Karen and family
