.....In a small town where everybody knew his name.
He has 5 daughters....that grew up knowing that he would "always be there for us".
I wanted to stay with Dad last week....so he would not be alone during these difficult days and be there for him....which lead to me having many priceless moments and memories.
He would tell me things like...."I was laying in bed trying to figure out how could I get Kim to stay another night"....as a parent....I know how happy he was to have his kids around.
Since I have to rest....I came home after he became bedridden Saturday....and he is sleeping all the time now.
Hospice tells us that Dad is coming to the end of his journey with COPD.

this is a priceless story, the Pratt's Daughter one.. I love that. I am so sorry to hear he is in hospice and my prayers are with him and you and your family...
Bless your heart. I'll be praying for you in the coming days.
Oh, Kim. So sorry to hear this. Big hugs. It's wonderful that you were able to spend priceless time with him.
You are so sweet to be with your Dad in his hour of need. I so miss my Dad and my Mom....
I know it must mean so much to him. Thinking of you.
Oh, Kim. I am so sorry. I am always frustrated when someone is in the last stages of living because there is nothing to say except, I'm sorry. It hurts so much, I know. So, I am sending you my love and a hand to hold, even though there is distance between us.
Oh, Kim..."priceless moments and memories" are such treasures...hold them close to your heart in the coming days...and find comfort in knowing your dad loves his 5 daughters so very much...I will be praying for you and your family....
I'm so sorry that your dad has come so far downhill. I know from experience how difficult it is to watch.
I'm glad you were able to have those special memories and time with him.
Kim,
Your dad sounds like a wonderful man. Mine was the father of 4 daughters, he also fought a very hard battle with cancer and COPD.
We have so many wonderful stories to tell, some make us laugh, some make us cry. I thought losing him would be easier as time went on, but my heart is as heavy now as it was 10 years ago.
Keeping Pratt and his family in my thoughts and prayers...
So sorry to hear about your dad. I will pray that you and your family find solace during this difficult time.
Peace,
Muff
Great photo of your Dad... So good that you got to spend some quality time with him. I know it's hard for you to lose him --but he'll be free of the COPD in heaven... God Bless You, Kim...My prayers are with you.
Hugs,
Betsy

I'm so very sorry! I went through this with my mom, it is so hard.

Your father sounds like a lovely man. I wish you and your family all the best.
Hugs & prayers to you Kim.
I'm so sorry Kim. It's a difficult time, stay strong!
Sorry to hear about your dad. I'm glad you got to see him. Take care and keep your memories of him close to your heart.
I have walked the walk you are on right now. My heart goes out to you, Kim.
How blessed you were to have a father who made you so proud to claim him. I was, and am, and will always be "Big Dave's daughter."
All I can add is this: If there is ANYthing you might want to ask your Dad, DO IT during one of this better moments. This is your only chance. I know; I stayed with my own Dad at his end. Hospice is such a blessing. Use them to lean on. They know what they are doing.
Take care.
Kim, You and your family are in my prayers.
Very touching moment. My thoughts go out to you as I am familiar with the details of COPD with my own father.
So sad to hear this about your Dad. I have another blog where I write about my Dad, who has Alzheimer's. We all rallied around him on Father's Day...even my brother flew in from Ohio. The doctor said it was good as he feels this will probably be his last Father's Day....my heart goes out to you and I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Stay strong and remember the good times. ((((( hugs))))) Donna
So sweet, such lovely memories to treasure! God bless you and your family during this difficult time. Hugs and blessings to you!
