My Maypop Surprise

I had never seen this flower before except on the net...
so it was a thrill to get a photo of a bumblebee strolling around on it

When I first saw this flower blooming in the weeds...
I said "Hubs, look there is a ballerina looking flower"
It is a purple passion flower...with the name of 'maypop'

net says this is an edible apricot when it ripens...I will taste it then

I am always amazed at the beauty that can be found hiding among the weeds!

  4. Beauty among the weeds...hmmm...I'll send you ours. We have tons, so maybe you'll find something there! LOL. Actually my husband is giving them one more week, then [gulp] off with their heads if no flowers appear!
Thanks for sharing the pix -- I never heard of a Maypop either.
    Peace,
    Muff

  5. that is the purple passion plant, we have that growing on our fence, it is the incubator for gulf friterary butteries and other butterflies. they lay there eggs on the leaves and the caterpillars eat the leaves. that is a great shot of the bee

  10. I've never heard of or seen that flower before!

I took a garden tour this weekend and saw so many pretty flowers. It was really wonderful and almost made me ashamed that I don't take care of my yard nearly as well as I should.

  11. I love that flower! I think the fruit is used to induce sleep, and as an antidepressant.

  13. Interesting facts. Some of my neighbors used to point out to me which weed or alien plant, I called it, that is useful and act like medicine. Never knew those alien plants could come in handy one day. Lovely photos , by the way

  14. Lovely flower. Beauty among the weeds make me think of the good that we often overlook in others because we are consumed with looking at the weeds in their lives.

  16. Stunning photography. My husband is a professional gardener which means our garden is one big weed. Although at the moment we have some very beautiful wild roses. I love them so ignore the messy stuff and zone in on those. Nature is beautiful.
