Spasticity and Heat

I like these warm, comfy boots that Hubs gave me for Christmas
He knew that I am always cold!

However.... I discovered when my legs are warm and toasty

my legs cramp spasm.

My Doctor said, "You are right, Heat does affect Spasticity"

I am sharing what works for me as I freeze during the winter.

I try to listen to my body and I feel it said...

that I have to get used to freezing!

  2. Sometimes you just can't win with this disease Kim. My body spasms if it's too cold, and if it's too hot. I am like Goldilocks, the temperature has to be "just right".

  3. so to warm up your legs feels good but causes spasms of pain. you must choose warm and spasms or cold and no spasms. does a blanket do the same as the boots or socks? i can't even imagine this. i do like those boots

  4. Cute boots! I hear what your saying, though. We have to make tough choices.

  5. Oh boy can I relate. First of all, I LOVE your slippers!!! My feet are icey so must keep them snuggy warm but then lighter pants and layered tops to 'peel' when too hot or too cold. I realized my electric blanket caused my spasms. It seems 'warming' up the sheets before I go to bed is wonderful BUT I must turn off the blanket once I get in bed! I feel like the three or two bears porage.
It's like going through the 'change' but spasms instead of hot flashes, sigh. I'm all for a space suit to set temp controls for certain locations .. Houston we have ah problem ;-)

  7. Well, I've learned something new today! I thought cold made spasms. But I know everyone is different!!! My knee pain goes up my thigh, and hurts really bad at night. The surgeon said knee pain only travels down, not up. But he finally admitted that it is from my knee, and I am just different from most people.

  9. Cute boots! I have a similar pair in black and they are sooooooo uncomfy!!!

I'm sorry heat makes your legs spasm. I HATE to be cold so I'm glad I don't have to deal with things like that. Wish you didn't either.

  12. Oh yes. And here, particularly in the summer months I wake the household shrieking when cramps/spasms lock my legs tight in the small hours.
    Bring back winter.

  13. I LOVE those boots - I WANT those boots - my feet are FREEZING! It seems that, this Winter, I can't get warm. Except the week before Christmas I was running a temperature but didn't realize it, and kept commenting to DH, "What is the heat set on? It feels so comfortable in here." Then I took my temp and it was 99.4, which is two degrees high on me. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

I was thinking, maybe you could cuff the boots so they would keep your feet warm, but not so much your legs. It might work as a compromise. Good Luck.

  16. Hmmmmm.... I would of thought that heat would make them feel better. But then, what do I know.

  17. Well booger bite!!! I got all excited for ya. So...can you cut the tops off the boots and have warm tootsies and cold unspastic legs???

Never mind me, I don't know what the heck I'm talkin' about...I'm just a obsessive fixer.

You have a fantastically blessed day sweetie!!! :o)
