I love spending time with my kids always.....this time we had one of those "I cannot believe what we just saw" moments of a black bear crossing....
This happened as my daughter and I were going to visit my Dad this weekend. I am so happy that we could see Dad too.
She was driving along when she noticed something black on the side of the road moving.
She slowed the car when it started crossing the road very fast.....we quickly saw that it was a black bear running across the road, almost exactly as the photobucket pic above.
It went across four lanes and went back into the woods unnoticed by anyone but us.
Enjoy time with your family when possible. Watch out for those Bears also!
It's always exciting and a bit scary to see bears. Up at the cottage they roam freely all over the properties. We didn't see one this year, but there were huge bear footprints in the mud beside the house.
ReplyDeleteOh WOW! Oh DOUBLE WOW! I am so glad you came upon this at the exact moment you did. Absolutely priceless. What a sighting!!!
ReplyDelete:)
i would LOVEEEE to see a bear running wild and free. happy happy you got to see one. glad it was safe and the two of you were also.
ReplyDeleteHow cool! They're so elusive. We have one that runs around the neighborhood, and it's drank a jug of our citronella before (huge clawmarks in the jug, citronella gone) but I've never seen it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you did not go after it like some folks would just to get a photo. My brother when camping last week in Yellow Stone and someone was attacked by one. We hear more and more of attacks because folks think they can get close.
ReplyDeleteI like to see them from afar.
That would be an amazing sighting! Wow!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun thing to see! I've had them in the yard occasionally over the years but it's been awhile.
ReplyDeleteYes! If we are too busy then we will miss those special moments with are family! How exciting to see a black bear!!!
ReplyDeletewow is right. what a dramatic photo. i have never seen the feet of a bear so well. love the black and white. that's a moment everyone won't soon forget.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE to watch bears - just not sure I like to watch them that close! sandie
ReplyDeleteDid you feel special to have been the only two to see it. I would. Of course seeing it from a moving vehicle is best. LOL
ReplyDeleteWe always get so excited to see a bear, even if he/she is far away! But of course, we don't see them here in Louisiana - only when we visit the Smokies!
ReplyDeleteCrazy! My hubby and I were driving and we saw black bear road kill! That was new for me. ;)
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago, when I was living in Georgia, there were a couple of incidents of bears being hit by cars near where I would get on the expressway on my way north to visit family. Made me a little nervous knowing there were bears that close! I never actually saw any though.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing moment! I would love to see one... well as long as it was just crossing the road. lol
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great visit with your dad!
Was that in Georgia? I honestly didn't know there were bears this far south.
ReplyDeleteI probably would have screamed.
Our last bear sighting was in early spring when I scared one off the neighbor's porch with a load of bird shot fired into the trees. It was chowing down on spilled cat food right up against the storm door and the ladies living there were terrified. Those big critters can really move when they want to, can't they?
ReplyDeleteOOOOH. Jealous, jealous, jealous. We don't have bears and I would LOVE to see one in the wild. Hope your visit with your father was great too.
ReplyDeleteAmazing and a little scary... What an experience and something you and your daughter will Never forget! I had a Water Buffalo cross in front of me, on a long dense stretch of highway many years ago. My husband didn't believe me until he asked a few people and sure enough there was a 'refuge' on the large base we lived on. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to see you Dad too! I miss mine.
Hugs,
Coreen
Wow! I'm glad you saw it in time to slow down! I'm sure it must have been amazing to see...and a little scary!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sight that must have been! Beats my praying mantis post by miles!!!!LOL!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joanne
That is so cool!
ReplyDeleteMy nephew and his little family accidentally hit a bear one evening. They were too afraid to get out and see if it was still alive, but the damage to the car was so bad that their car wouldn't work.. He finally had to get out!
How cool was that! I've only seen a few real ones-one in my yard several years ago : )
ReplyDeleteOh Kim!! How neat is that? I love seeing wild life.
ReplyDeleteWoWW!!! cool but scary... i just saw this movie FROZEN ... and i got really scared looking at what bears could do to humans :( ...but i am sure just a sighting must be fun... the photograph is cool!!
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that! Perfect timing. Kim, thank you for sharing. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds great exciting! wow glad u get to see the bear.
