Laughing and Crying Feelings

Since it is one week until my son goes to Marine Boot Camp (plans are made).   The grief is beginning for me....

I keep reminding myself that he will be better off in the long run.  Moms do want the best for their children.

We have a full week ahead with Thanksgiving, going away party, cleaning house and travel.  I will be laughing with family and crying in my heart as I worry about my son.

We have improved communications however but not Boot Camp! We can only do hand-written letters???

Many Moms have gone down this road before me.  I know it will be for his best, many men tell me!

  1. Oh Bless Your Heart, Kim.... I don't know what you are going through because none of my sons went into the service. BUT--I will say that now that my sons are grown and have lives of their own, I find myself missing those times when we were together. It's not the same-but similar. I will pray for you, Mama. I know it will be hard --but he will be fine.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  3. Oh, my! Your holiday will be full of mixed emotions and anxiety; I am sorry. How old is your son and did he enlist? A mother's heart never stops fretting as long as our children live! But God sees all this and is in perfect control, nothing can happen that he does not allow. We will pray and trust and turn it all over to him. I will be praying this week for you and your son both.

  4. Praying blessings on your son and on you. Hope you have a wonderful week, and he has lots of great things to think about at boot camp. Improved communications when you are separated from loved ones is such a blessing!

  9. Yes it could be worse...but it is still hard. My daughter is going away to college in a year and that has me sad. That doesn't even compair to what you are going through. Pryaing for you.

  10. I know a bit about how you feel! My son said something about joining Marine Boot Camp for 10 weeks next summer...apparently he does not after to commit until AFTER boot camp.

He better have heard that part right.

But he says he wants to go "for the experience",

I say if kids want something to do for the "experience" they should try something more dangerous...like marriage. Kidding! =)

It's so hard to be a mom.

  11. Like you say, with improved communications, you could Skype him any time and chat with him face to face like he is home. The wonders of technology. Thanks to those who invented these. Happy Thanksgiving to you and family
