My horse dog Donny starts shaking when he hears thunder....then I put his snug fitting Thunder Shirt on him
However....when the lightening and thunder got louder and louder...
I had to look all over the house to find him and this is where he was......under our desk.
The storms we had yesterday were pretty furious...a few times I felt like joining him...
Thankfully the storms passed and today is a sunny blue sky kind of Spring day!
ps. The Thunder Shirt May help calm him...maybe??

I used to have a black Miniature Schnauzer that would shake like a leaf when he hear thunder. He would run behind the couch and hide. I felt so bad for him.
ReplyDeletePoor Donny has no idea what is going on!
Awww, poor sweetie! My dog Popcorn (RIP) used to be terrified of storms! Back in those days, I don't think they had clothes to help calm them. Too cool!
ReplyDeleteI know that many dogs get that way about thunder. My daughter's big galoot needs a tranquilizer and a trip to the lower level of the house, where he can't hear the noise. I never heard of a thunder shirt!
ReplyDeletePeace,
Muff
I need one of these for baby, Jake doesn't mind storms, but she does. baby has bed in the back of our walking closet, it stays there under my longer clothes, and the first sign of a storm she retires there until it goes away.
ReplyDeleteHi - oh yes, our dog we had for 15 years was so scared of thunder and also the dog we have now is as well. She hides i corners and shakes.
ReplyDeleteLove Gail
peace.....
Glad you are all safe! Heard the storms were intense. Love y'all!
ReplyDeleteI was looking at a thunder shirt for Merfy. Do they work well Kim?
ReplyDeleteThe shirt May help....a little. I want to try to help him calm down so i get out the shirt??
ReplyDeleteA thunder shirt--now that's cool!
ReplyDeleteDoes the thunder shirt help? Kind of like those weighted vests they put on kids w/ ADHD to calm them in school I guess.
ReplyDeleteThe dog we had would crawl under almost anything when thunder was in the air. Glad you are having blue sky today.
ReplyDeletePoor thing! We had a blind friend who has a seeing eye dog, he is HUGE, rather like Donny. And whenever it stormed he ran into the bathtub, grabbed to shower curtain and wrapped himself up in it.
ReplyDeleteI just happened to see your new hairdo on the You Might Also Like below. I am so glad it happened to pop up, it was one I had missed, I think it was when I was in the hospital. It is GORGEOUS, and so are you.
ReplyDeletePoor baby..I had a Great Dane that hated the storms. She tried to crawl under things and she was just too big!! Ha

Big scaredy-cat doggie, huh???? So many dogs are afraid of thunder... I am too at times!!! We had the same storms yesterday --but today is gorgeous... BUT--we may have snow flurries tomorrow night --so Ole Man Winter is not finished with us yet... Darn!!!! ha
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
We have a thunder coat for our dog too!
ReplyDeletePoor Donny...
ReplyDeleteKim you should try writing a poem using your "blue sky kind of Spring day", it's musical: "a blue sky kind of day". :)
One of our German Shepherds was also afraid of thunder - and would leap into the nearest lap and attempt to wedge her head under your arm. Painful.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of thunder coats. How do they work? And do they work?
I bought my Mom a Thunder Shirt (NOT for her, but for her dog). She says it helps to calm her pooch.
ReplyDeleteApparently the theory behind the shirt is the same one as newborn babies are bundled snuggly--it calms them.
Who knew!
poor chap....must be frightening not to know what sound is that
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of getting a thunder jacket for our dog do you think they work?
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't know there is a thunder jacket. My dogs is frighten of sound of thunder too. He is normally outside and when there is thunder or fire crackers during Chinese New Year, he freaks out. I will normally let him in the house and try to clalm him down. He would go hide behind the sofa till it quiets down.
