Thankful on Rainy Days

outside my window
It is hard for me not to feel dreary on days like this...so I am really trying hard to be Thankful for:

the rain and this view
my sister came through back surgery fine
that I have family/friends to talk to on the phone
and I can stay inside a warm dry home

It seems to me that boring days are an ordinary part of life...
and I will be Thankful for ordinary!

  1. I actually learned to like rainy days - equipped with rain-gear and walking in a nearby park - sitting down on a bench maybe and just listen to it.

Indoors an excuse to cuddle up with a blanket (thin in the summertime) and read a book..

Maybe it's due to a stressing job, that I have started finding some peacefulness in rain?

  2. Yes, boring is bad for the young ones. But for me, I like it because the not boring is so often the bad kind.

  7. Hi Kim, Since we too have had tons for rain and dreariness lately, I posted a cute poster on Facebook.. It said: Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain"...... Cute, isn't it?

  8. Rain is good. Over here , many areas are having water shortage. Let's hope the water level at the reservior will rise soon else we will be having very dry Chinese New Year

  10. This says comfort to me. You can see just enough of what is outside and know that it's dismal but also know you are safe. Love it!

  11. Wonderful things to be thankful for. We could certainly do with some of your rain this way. The heat is turning us all into crispy critters...

  13. That is a very good attitude. Think of us in Brisbane, who haven't had any decent rain for more than 3 months. I would just love my windows to look like that.

  15. I love the sentiments and particularly love the photo. You have evoked a metallic yet soft sensibility through your photo of looking at the dreary rain through a window. Well done.

  20. As long as I'm indoors, the rain is fine with me. It's when I have to venture out in it that I get cranky. Thanks for reminding me to be grateful!
    Peace,

  23. WoW!!! the shot has come out really really well :) ....and i like your last line...people who learn to see the "extra" in ordinary things are the people who are actually happy inside them :)

    Stay blessed and smiling !

  24. We had a dreary, rainy week that ended with snow, but this weekend the sun came out and spirits lifted. It's good to think about those things you can be thankful for to lift you from the ordinary and boring to appreciate God's love and extraordinary blessings!
