My Unusual Sleep Pattern

my view is strange sometimes

Why do I wake up early now?

I was a late sleeper my whole life til the past year.....

Maybe it is my horse dog that
wakes me some days
but I wake him some days!

Why did my sleep pattern change?
Maybe it is my age since I am past 50

However it is nice being an early bird!

Can anyone relate to this?

  1. i have been early bird my whole life, and i like it, but the problem is my friends/family are night owls as is most of the world so i am out of step. i have a couple of friends and they were night owls but now wake up at 3 am and can't go back to sleep

  4. This is real interesting. My whole life, I have been a late sleeper. REALLY late, rarely wake up before lunch time. So is my best friend. We think this may be something you are born with. People can't believe we sleep this late. But of course by the time I get up, the day is half over. If I change like you did, I could get a whole lot more done. But when I have to get up early, I actually get sick!

  5. My smaller portion likes to get up at the crack of noon. I briefly joined him, but for the last twenty years or more I have been waking earlier and earlier. Pre dawn most days now.

  7. It's all about AGE! I was a late sleeper until a few years ago...now I'm up with the birds first thing in the morning!

  8. I am typically an early bird...my internal clock dinging at 5am. But I DO go through phases where my clock just doesn't work...and for about a week or 2 every so often I relish in a couple extra hours of sleep. Who knows why...but I don't mind:D

  9. Boy I sure can relate. Lately I've been waking up at 4:30 nearly every morning. Sometimes I can get back to sleep and sometimes I can't. I wish I felt awake enough to jump out of bed and start the day!

  10. YES---I can relate... I was always a sound sleeper and could sleep until 7:30 or 8:00 in the morning... I have never been a morning person...

BUT--since my surgery, I wake up at 5 a.m. no matter what time I go to bed... I finally decided to go ahead and get up --since I was wide awake... BUT--it's just so different for me.
    Hugs,

  11. I can relate. Husband is an early early bird. I am a late riser. I would love to be an early bird. Its good for one apparently to be an early bird, more daylight time thats good for the soul.
    Take care.

  12. "They" tell me it's our age. With me, it's not early rising, it's middle of the night rising (worse than I already had with the fibro)

My sister decided to use it as extra time to pray.

  13. I found as I get older i don't need as much sleep. In summer I'm up early for walk before it gets too hot but in winter i stay in bed longer.

  15. Well, my sleep has been awful since having kids.

I will say that people need less sleep the older they get, and when they do sleep they spend less time in REM sleep. However, they need MORE rest and tire easier. All part of my psych 101 class ;-)

  18. I've always been a farm chick so the day has always began 'round dark thirty. We are often up and goin' 'round 4:30. It's just the way we have to fly 'round the Ponderosa.

God bless and enjoy this wonderful day.

  19. Told God if He wanted me up early to have my quiet time before the others wake then He would have to wake me up. (didn't want an alarm to wake my husband) Every day since I wake up at 5:15am and we have the best conversations. I have always been more of an early bird than a night owl. My whole family teases me about falling asleep on the couch after dinner!

  20. hi Kim...Some nights I wake up at 5 and have to get up to write. I drive myself crazy when I do that but even though it feels great to write when everyone is still sleeping I conklin out by 3 in the afternoon.

  22. Also always an early bird. But since 50 - oh dear, awake half the night as well. Now I sleep with my little radio and earphones so I can listen to the Phone-in night-time insomniacs instead of having to get up to watch TV. I often sleep again with the radio still playing in my ear. Lucky hubbie - he wakes me up to go to the bathroom but immediately sleeps again.

  24. Yes age does have a lot to do with change of habits. You suddenly realize that time is rushing past and there are still many unaccomplished dreams ! That's when you become an early bird and try to pack more things into a day. Have a great weekend.

  26. That's good and healthy to wake up early, which i hardly do. May be the age can brought the change...
