Handicap Helpers for Me!




I am sharing a few items that make my life easier as I travel this MS  road with obstacles.

These small things do help me to live a 'normal' life.

The shower chair is so nice when my balance and fatigue make showering difficult.

I give Hubs credit for finding these aides to help me be independent.

    Hi Kim, They make so many helpful handicapped things now --that they didn't used to. I'm so glad about that.. I know it makes life alot simpler for you.

    I know you aren't writing for pity- THAT is something I know. My girl, reading you makes me stronger. :)

    That shower chair looks grand! I hope it feels good, too. A big thank you to family who helps us wade through the tiny bumps on the road!

    Kim,
    Having taught children with physical disabilities, it is amazing the tools that were essential to my parents and it is imperative that every single individual have access to these tools. What was sad to me was that they just weren't easy to get for some families. I am thoroughly glad you have what you need and it is good you can access help as needed!

    Hi Kim,

    Hubbers and I are looking into ripping out the bath tub and having a walk-in shower installed. I have been putting it off because everyone says the house won't sell well without a bathtub. I figure, what the heck, if someone wants a tub that bad they can put one in themselves. I'd like to have a shower without someone having to help me in and out all the time!

    Thank you for this, I am increasingly more immoblle, and now have to use wheelchairs and scooters a lot of the time. I can walk, but not more than a few yards, and standing is very limited now. I will probably need one of thse shower seats in the near future. I know you can get ones that are free standing, yours looks attached? My contractor who built my handicapped shower said he needs to look into it, there are different kinds, any suggestions? I will be really appreciating any more of these kind of posts!!!

    we really need a better bathing system among other things at home...one day we will have a stall instead of a tub and a bench like yours...and a bedroom downstairs...I look forward to that day!

    I'm glad you found those kind of things to help you! Tools like that, I think, can help one feel more esteemed and independent... which is always a good thing! Thanks for sharing - I have a friend I think I'll pass this on too!

    It is great to have the bench in the shower...I had a sturdy stool that I could sit upon.
    And it so good to point these things out. They are helpful for sure!!

    Sometimes, we all just take the simplest things for granted. Thanks for the reminder!!

    But I am truly glad to know there are some things that make it easier for you to be more independent and accomplish those things too!!

    Thanks for sharing. My mum had a stoke few years back so we too installed stuffs like side bars etc in her bathroom.

    It's amazing how many accessories are available to help people with physical disabilities. And what's more one doesn't have to buy them. He/she can borrow them for an unlimited period for free, although it's customary to offer some donation. There are various organizations that take care of this, at least where I live.

    Am I allowed to be jealous that you have a shower chair...? Coz Kim, I won't lie, I kinda am hey!!!
    I know it makes your life easier & I'm being a lazy person here with imagining how awesome it would be on a lazy day but ok I'm being mean now hey??
